High cholesterol foods are blamed for heart disease, obesity, and many other conditions that are becoming more common in the USA. Some of these may be eaten occasionally but all of them should be eliminated and avoided whenever possible for better health and lower numbers. One of these is egg yolks. The white of an egg contains substantial amounts of protein and little of this unwanted ingredient, but the yolk is the exact opposite. The high fat is what makes it taste so good, and also what makes it so unhealthy.
Liver in any form is substantial when it comes to this specific component. This organ is responsible for manufacturing cholesterol in the body, and when it is consumed the individual gets all of this unwanted substance along with beneficial nutrients. Products that should be avoided in this category include Pate and Foie Gras, but also raw liver that is cooked at home and then served.
Butter has long been given a bad reputation, and for many years the food industry has touted margarine as a safer option. The fact is that any fat that turns solid at room temperature is not a good pick, and should be avoided whenever possible. Use olive oil when cooking and limit the baked goods in your diet to minimize this type of fat whenever you can. Caviar is another poor choice if you are trying to lower these numbers or you want to keep them ideal in the first place. In Europe this delicacy is often spread on bread or crackers, but these products should be avoided.
Seafood is frequently called a healthy dietary choice, especially if it is boiled rather than fried. Shrimp are the exception when it comes to the amount of cholesterol that is involved. These may also be called prawns or camarones, and one large shrimp can provide 4% of the daily allowance for this substance. These sea creatures can be consumed in moderation occasionally but they should not make up a large percentage of your diet due to the risks.
Fast food meals are a big culprit in the rising heart risks and cholesterol levels that many Americans face. Anything that is deep fried is best avoided if you care about your health and weight. From breakfast through dinner most of these restaurants offer items that tastes good but that are extremely unhealthy. Breakfasts at these places can be especially bad, with sandwiches and entrees that provide more than half of your daily calories and fat amounts. The risks may not be as immediately obvious like unpasteurized juices but they are still there.
